Yankees deal with Ellsbury is seven years and $153 million. That's $12 million more than Crawford's contract

This is good for the Reds. This signing increases the odds the Reds either sign Choo, or can trade Phillips to the Yankees, or both.

Unreal. And not to be outdone, it's reported Cano is now asking for a billion dollars.

What's Choo going to get now?

Suddenly Carl Crawford seems reasonably paid.
I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Reports are they are still interested in Cano.
Cano must be getting like 200M+
Wrong side of 30, game based on speed pretty much. Time will tell.
Jerry Crasnic has done a phone interview on espn saying that the Yanks are not interested in Cano any longer....so who knows.
I have a question though. Its basically a scenario. Say the Mariners go to Cano and offer him 7/170 just like the Yankees did. Say the M's offer him 7/170 and basically tell him take it or leave it (knowing that no one else in baseball now are in his market.) Would Cano be forced to take it? What im asking is, when you know no one else can beat you....can u offer a player a 'lowball' price as long as that low price is higher than he could get elsewhere...but waaaay short of what he wants? Is that something that can happen?
Whoa! The Yankees have flexed their financial muscles, but this was a stupid signing in my opinion.

Yanks have a ton of flexibility right now.
Let's see how fast they flush it down the toilet.
