‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
Man, should have done that two years ago.

I'd be very in. Forget money right now, because if they sign him, then the Reds have enough money.
a 3-4-5 of Votto-Beltran-Bruce...I'm in.
I also don't care about his age. He's one of the best post season hitters of all time (don't know if that means much). Maybe I'm letting my eyeballs tell me too much, but I would take it.

Really wanted him bad two years ago. Like really bad. Now I'd still take him, and would rather have him for 2/20 or a little more than that than Choo for 5/100.
I wonder how his defense in CF at 36 might compare to Choo at 32? Once Hamilton is ready, Beltran could slide over to LF and bridge to Winker/Ervin/Y-Rod.
Only thing I wouldn't like is losing the first round pick. I wouldn't like that at all.
Go BLUE!!!

If he got a qualifying offer, then no. Next years draft is packed, and I don't want to give the Cardinals the Reds #1 pick.

I think it'd be tough giving up the pick but Beltran would give the reds the bat they need without having to give up players that are already on the roster. Losing the pick would hurt, but losing the actual talent to gain a hitter of his quality via trade may hurt more.
It'd be worth it to just see him torch the Cards 16 games next year.

Beltran is no longer a CF, barely a RF, moving to LF.
If you can throw and run you play CF, If you can cut the gap and have a good arm RF, if you no longer can cut the gap or have a bad arm you are in LF.
Carlos no longer has wheels that can cover RF much alone LF

Beltran has said that he wants to play 3 more years. So it will probably take a 3 year deal to sign him.
I see Beltran as a Dante Bichette/Rich Aurillia/2013 Lance Berkman for the Reds. No way the Reds get any Cardinal magic out of a former super star.
If we lose Choo, then the Beltran pick is a wash. We gain one, we lose one.
