This is our French Bulldog, Addison:

Retrievers are a working breed. I found with my old lab that he simply needed to be worn out with running or swimming every day to keep from chewing. We would go to a field in the morning where he would retrieve for about 40 minutes, running hard. Once he reached full adulthood, he calmed down some, but no dog I've ever owned has needed as much activity as that old boy.

I've had two labs before. Cheesecakes are an entirely different ballgame. He's a great dog, but it takes more like 1.5 hour of exercise to even begin to tame the beast. He is actually very gentle, but his motor is something I've never experienced before. I think he will end up over 100 lbs. A large dog to say the least.

Thanks dabvu. I forgot to mention that she does love her Nylabones, and they last longer than regular toys -- I'm just looking for something she can play with/chase rather than just settle down and chew lovingly for hours. Tennis balls might do the trick.

They also sell them at Petco Unleashed and some Whole Foods Markets if you want to check them out in person before you buy them, and sometimes they show up at Target and Home Goods stores. Our dog destroys most toys quickly but he's had the same Orbee-Tuff bones and balls for years.

Oh, yeah, my old boy weighed right about a hundred. Just big all over; big head, feet, appetite. He did calm down at about ten.

Had to put my cat KC down tonight - she had been losing weight this past month, and getting weak. Vet took x-rays and found a large mass in her belly. The prognosis would not be good even if they did surgery to have it removed.
As I said good-bye I told her not to tell anyone what she heard or witness from me listening/watching games and reading Redszone! (not pretty).

Going to be pet free for a while and then the urge might come back.

Sorry to hear that Kitty, Cancer is a bad deal with the little ones, takes em quick. You'll get that urge count on it, they need as much as you and that's always a good match

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a pet is very hard. They are there with you everyday no matter what is happening. I'm sure you wil find another one someday soon.

Kitty- had pretty much the same thing happen to my Boss Kitty a few months back. It stinks. He was 14.
