And if you want to point out that players are getting bigger in the 80's to now, well, they have an actual understanding of the benefits of diet, weight lifting and an endless supply of completely legal supplements.

That was a relative comment. Natural growth/weight addition is a different thing than what we saw going on in the 90s.

My favorite Frank Thomas/Jeff Bagwell facts are that they share the same birthday, and both won their league's MVP in 1994. And, for most of their careers, they were each other's #1 comp at baseball-reference.

As for Reggie Jackson (who has almost 20 years between those pictures, BTW) he was always a big, thick guy. Here's two shots from his first stint and return to the A's. Not a monumental difference. He had weight spikes in between, but he didn't start looking like a comic book character, as many of these guys from the 90s did.

He's a stud in both shots. Just a little heavier at end of career and a different style of uniform.

You can't compare Williams at 20 and Williams at 40 to this discussion. Bagwell didn't just put on some weight. The comparison is totally off.

What are three things that are still around today? Two things that aren't? The quantity of players who look like the Ultimate Warrior and number of hitters putting up video game numbers.

Why not a shot of Williams in the cradle?

Here's a picture of Bagwell from his final season.

I think a whole lot of people aren't remembering his physique accurately.
