    Crazy high Salary

Say what you want about Large Market vs. Small Market. TV and Radio Contracts. But $1.7 million for one year for Chris Heisey??? That is outrageous.

    No it isn't.

I'd rather the players get it than the owners just pocket it.

While his numbers were off slightly last year due to being injured, Heisey is well worth 1.7 million for his defense alone. He's a solid, reliable fill-in for Ludwick or Hamilton.

Plus, it's not like his salary skyrocketed. He made 1.3 mil last year.

I am not saying he is not worth $1.7 mil, but I find it hard to believe they could not get a player for the league minimum that would provide either equal or better "defense alone."

    Yes it is!

If you want that money to go to players rather than owners, then give it to another player. That is big money for Brandon Larson type stats.

To you and me its a crazy high salary but in the baseball world it is not. I don't think its even the league average.

I'm almost positive he's off base, but I hesitate to argue with the rock of truth.

    Re: Crazy high Salary

Of all the high salaries in baseball, you target Chris Heisey making $1.7 mil?
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Its probably about what Heisey is worth. However you would hope organizations can produce 4th and 5th type outfielders so they don't need to shell out $1.7 for the Heisey's of the world and allocate that money elsewhere.

True, average salary is around 3.5, minimum is around 500K, guys like Chris Heisey tend to jump around once they settle into that 4th OF role and get costly.

1.7 is not too pricey for his skill set, maybe in a year or two, or if he never sees CF again or loses his pop more and more.

But Heisey isn't a problem in the payroll world, but on the field his numbers have dropped the last two years

Isn't the estimate that 1 WAR is worth about $6 million? By that, Heisey is well worth $1.7 million.
