I'm not sure he does. Or at least he think Pollack's the answer. Hope he's right.

I think Brown made this move for two other reasons:

He's confident that he can get Collins signed allowing Whitworth to move to LG (if Whitworth was at LT, Cook would probably need to be retained in order to keep some continuity on the Line).

He's also recognized how terribly bad Gresham is at run-blocking, meaning that significant upgrades need to be made on the O-line. Gresham won't be cut because of his catching ability, but I have a feeling that Charles is going back to being a blocking Tight End, not a Fullback.
Do you think Hankerson fits in anywhere or is he just a backup?

Tanner Hawkinson is just a backup along with Dennis Roland. He'll bide his time as is the customary procedure under Paul Alexander. Alexander's done great things with Tackles. Don't see any reason why he won't turn Hawkinson into a productive OT, too....eventually, though.

All this is assuming the Bengals can sign Collins, which I think they will now that Cook is gone. If they don't get Collins, then Whitworth slides back to LT, opening up LG to whoever wins the battle in camp between Boling, Robinson, Roland and Hawkinson. So, if Collins is gone, Hawkinson would more than likely see more playing time this season.

Rumor that Kitna just signed with the Bengals.

Turned out to be a joke...as I figured.

Do we get any compensation if we elect to let him go?

Demarcus Ware and Julius Peppers let go tonight. Good timing for Michael Johnson on his Tampa deal. Tough to see Johnson go, but if I had any confidence Mike Brown would awaken during FA I wouldn't be worried.

Good to see the Bengals will upgrade at center. Johnson wasn't the same after Geno went down, clear to see who makes that line formiddable. Geno coming back 100% will be the most important offseason move for the Bengals.

Lets see if they put the freed cash from Johnson to shore up some other gaps (safety, center, LB), AJ contract extension. The right move if they get work done in those places.

Hawkins tendered by the Browns and looks front loaded so the Bengals won't likely match.

Denver and New Orleans quickly grab the two premier safeties in FA. That's the one position I'd have forked over for big bucks in FA if I was running the Bengals.

Here's to Ward and Talib over-celebrating their new contracts:

They will change at center, but is it too early to assume it will be an upgrade? Or am I just being too skeptical?
