And there it is.....the moment Salukifan2 lost all credibility on redszone in my eyes.

Where are you getting Holliday using PEDs?

Man thats rich! I'd be pissed if I were JP and MH actually used those words in reference to me.... I forgive him. MH is the new Brian Mccann?

On another note, the worst part of the hot stove is that non-news becomes news.

What would you have said if you were in MH position?

He played for Tony La Russa in St. Louis. By baseball writer logic, that's sufficient.

Additionally, the cards still have lots of available cash. In fact, the reds payroll has surpassed the cardinals. As a Cardinal fan, it really annoys me to see big market clubs like SF, Chicago, LA, and Cincinnati spend their way to divisional titles while regular places like STL have to compete with less resources.
    Cards payroll 2013 $116,702,085
    Reds payroll 2013 $110,565,728

And when did the Cubs spend their way to a division title lately?

The Cards are a model franchise, you should be proud of that. Whining about spending when they are a few dollars out of the top 10 doesn't seem very wise.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Wasn't Walt Jocketty Signing all the PED bums?

@RedTeamGo because you've only been here some 9 months you would not recall the arguments I used to get in with Doug and Hometown where they claimed STL is a large market team based on how much the cardinals spent, and not on how large the market actually was. I'm simply being a sarcastic ass and flipping that argument now. Thanks for taking the bait.

edit: this isn't meant to call out Doug or Hometown. I respect doug above pretty much everyone else on here

Why don't you look at the 2014 projections. The cardinals won't be getting any larger before spring training, but the reds might.

The last time they were able to spend their way there was 2007 and 2008. Do you not remember?

I see the Cards paying $100 million to 11 players. Figure an average of 500K for the remaining 14 players, and we're talking $107 million.

Reds are at $88 million for 18 players. Throw in $9 mill for Bailey, $5 million for Chapman and we're at $102 for 20 players. Add in $2.5 for the remaining 5 slots, and we're at $104.5.

    104.5<107 with my math understanding.

He should have said nothing. If asked about it, say it's a not worth talking about, and move on. It seems that's what every other Cardinal has smartly chosen to do.
