Votto is a better, more articulate analyst than just about any other player I've seen/heard. It's going to be really interesting to see what he does with himself after his playing days are over.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

With the kind of cash he's making, if he invests properly he could probably end up owning a team someday.

I miss the days when sabermetrics were "secret knowledge" that only a privileged few of us were aware of. I don't feel the need to educate the general public. I like knowing more than they do.

Although it would be nice if the Reds' front office and coaching staff were ahead of the curve rather than behind it. I think Bryan Price will move them forward though.

I don't know if he is a true sabermetrics believer, but I do think he is more open-minded than his predecessor. Dusty was set in his ways and still managed as if the game hadn't changed from his playing days. Judging by the way he handled the pitching staff I think Price will display a more modern understanding of the game.

I hope he is, but at the moment I doubt that it will be that big of a difference...

Joey bought Tuffy Rhodes rose, chocolates and underwear as a gag one spring on Valentine's Day. "He wanted to fight me" #Reds
Votto on Price: He's an old school guy, with a new school brain. Energy was his word of the day today. #Reds
Votto on Homer: I'm very happy for him and very proud of him. He's gotten better each year, his stuff is getting better each year. #Reds
Joey told me off air, he's like to keep doing this during the spring....time/extent to be determined. Love it. #Reds
Votto: Bryan told us today, 'behave like a leader, perform like a leader and let your actions represent you as a leader.' #Reds
    Votto on Rolen:
Votto: Scott never uttered a word, wasn't rah-rah, he respected the game, but guess what?, he was the one tackling Cris Carpenter.#Reds
Votto: Guess what?, he was the 1 that got would get drilled in the knee and play the next day and he was the 1 running every ball out #Reds
Votto: That's the definition of the guy that I perceive as a leader. #Reds
Votto: Scott led through example, he led by his actions, and he put pressure on the rest of the team to play at that level. #Reds
Votto on being Captain of #Reds Heads Kids Club: I hope I don't blow this and tell some kid to beat it. I hope I'm not like Bad Santa.#Reds

I heard this interview bringing my kids and dog back from the park. I really liked his answers on the importance of money and how he is as a cook. I really hope someone who didn't have a screaming child post it, as I can just kind of give the jist of it.

It seems like Joey is really coming out of his shell.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Joey is taking DatDude's "leadership" in fan outreach. Votto is not the kind of guy to be messaging fans on Twitter, but I think he did see what BP was doing and wants to do his version of it. Smart guy.
