Redzone Minor League Prospect Ranking #26th & 27th

Jacob Constante came in ranked 24th and Curtis Partch, the red-headed righty, at #25. The Reds have had a real dearth of lefties but now have 4 southpaws in their top 24 prospects. Holmberg, Garrett, Guillon and Constante.

On to picks 26 and 27.

I went with strict upside on this one - Kevin Garcia and Aristides Aquino. Was going with Medina but he's still completely unproven.

Time to give a nod to Neftali Soto. He has all kinds of prospect issues--lack of speed, lack of defense, lack of progress at Louisville--but I still believe the guy can hit.

    And Garcia.

But I like Chacin. And Aquino. And Cory Thompson.

I'm probably going to be alone in this, but I'm going to vote for Christiani here. Just a plugger who seems to get a little better every year.

Well, they did say that he added a pitch late last season, and it seemed to make a significant difference.

Armstrong, get it? his arm is strong? C'mon vote for this guy!!!!!

Duran is indeed on the 40 man, and noticing his splits vs LHP his K:BB ratio is much closer to 2:1 and he slugs in the 500's. Perhaps he could be useful in 3-4 years. I picked him over Lamarre because of power, which plays.

I'm voting for one on potential (Armstrong) and one on performance (Josh Smith). Neither will likely be a Cy Young candidate, but both could end up being solid role players.

19 different guys with votes at this point. 3 votes (3 guys) max so far...Wow! Our opinions this far down the list are sure divergent. 2 more prospects were mentioned in the remarks but haven't gotten votes yet. Each poll seems to be spreading out a wider net, which is to be expected, but this really illustrates it.

Re: Redzone Minor League Prospect Ranking #26th & 27th

Can anyone elaborate a bit about what Armstrong brings to the table? About all I know is that he was a 3rd-round draft choice last year out of high school.

Edit: OK, I read Doug's remarks in his Prospect Guide. Sounds like standard, decent stuff, nice frame, and limited experience due mostly to growing up in New York . . . Of course, there's more; I don't want to undermine Doug's work. His Prospect Guide is an informative bargain.

I think I've been watching too much 24 on Netflix. I dreamt last night that there was a terrorist plot to infiltrate Redszone by electing Jackson Stephens in the prospect poll.
