Redzone Minor League Prospect Ranking #28th & 29th

Aquino and Garcia lock up #26 and #27, a pair of International FA signings. For those wondering if the International scouting is working- well, 8 of the first 27 spots are International kids. 30% of the top prospects. Then there is Cueto and Chapman on the big club - and there are still a number of them just starting to make an impact on the system, like the newly signed Medina, reliever Alejandro Chacin and the intriguing lefty Luis Gonzalez.

Moving on to picks 28 and 29.

Talking about International kids as a big part of the farm, I wonder how the Reds stack up there compared to other teams? Haven't really researched that comparison.

Rosa and Medina. Still going with the upside. Both guys are in my top 25.

Doug, what impresses me most this year is the number of possible breakout candidates who could turn the prospect rankings around with a good season (and not be unexpected really). Pitchers and hitters. Still have Rosa, Rahier, Medina, Silva, Boyles, Chacin, Armstrong, Matthews, Stephens etc. to pick. That's a pretty fair group even if you allow some maybe should be a bit higher. In the high 20s now and still have good candidates that really would not surprise me at all if they developed.

Another player to keep an eye on this coming year is Logan Uxa. Because he is a first baseman he doesn't get much attention (the Votto effect) but he raked in the AZL showing excellent discipline, a good eye and some power (and good speed for a first sacker - maybe end up in LF?). Not ready to vote for him just yet but he's coming soon.

Should 2B Jamodrick McGruder be added to the poll soon?

Not really more than filler for me at this point. 22 Y/O in the AZL with an .817 OPS and only 1 HR in 174 PAs from a 1B. Not in the top 50 for me.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Give me a kid coming out of college who can walk at a good clip, doesn't strike out a lot and shows good gap power starting out and I'll keep an eye on him.

Doing those things coming out of college in the AZL against 18 year olds doesn't do much for me. If he did them in A Ball, that would be a reason for cautious optimism and consideration in the 8 to 15 range. If he did them in AA, he'd be in the top 5.
