Redzone Minor League Prospect Ranking #30th & 31st

Reydel Medina and Drew Cisco were #'s 28 and 29. On to the thirties for #31 and 32.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

I'm going with Armstrong (nice upside, his arm is strong) and Juan Silva (who definitely knows how to find his way to 1B).

Henry Rodriguez, I think he's due for a great 2014. Dude can hit.

Sal Romano- Only 20. Could reach Pensacola by the end of the year. Break out year is possible.

Played as a twenty one year old with a .773 ops at High A and the most power in the organization. You'd think he would get some votes, but I guess you need to have the right buzz.

If Duran can show that his improvement wasn't just Bakersfield flash then I'm bumping him up quite bit next year. Especially encouraged by the walks last year, more than the homers.

It's probably not fair given his age, but Duran has built up a good amount of skepticism at this point. It's going to take more than one season at Bakersfield to turn people around. Again, it's not fair, but it's reality. After all, how many of us who sit and judge him could walk the streets of Bakersfield?

One could argue that it's impatience rather than skepticism. Just because someone is signed at 16 doesn't mean he'll be ready at 17.

Meanwhile Duran will be playing at AA this year at age 22 and has some excellent tools and hit well last season.

That may indeed be the case, even though we have been conditioned to think otherwise. The Reds certainly haven't given up on him. He can go a long way toward changing minds this season.

And btw, those impressed with actual results could always throw a little love Josh Smith's way.

I'm sympathetic to KC's argument for Duran. The big question is the K's per AB, pretty close to 1 in 3 and no improvement on this from 1st to 2nd half of the season. Significant SLG improvement from 1st to 2nd half but no movement at all on the K's.

As I understand it, he's got one tool (power). I'm going to need to see some OB outside the Cali League before I buy into Duran having a meaningful future. I'm worried he's a Neftali Soto wannabe.

I've been voting for Romano for the same reason for several spots now. Have him at 20 on my personal list. Also voted for Neftali Soto because RH pop is becoming very scarce. His 30 HR season is well in the past now, but double digit HRs in AAA probably needs to be viewed in a different light. He's still hanging onto his 40 man roster spot and seemed to make a fairly successful move back to 3B last season. Couple all those things and I think he still has value, but I could see dropping him from the top 40 all together.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    Thompson and Rahier.

Romano and Stephens would be next after that for me. Armstrong and Langfield interest me as well.

A lot of people are sleeping on Gabriel Rosa IMO.
