You wouldn't expect that from hanging out in this forum. Pitching and defense wins championships, the Reds have been ranked in top 5 in those categories on many sites.

The Reds still need to score more points than the other team....analysis

I am predicting a game where the Reds win with a Billy Hamilton HBP, steal of 2nd and 3rd, and a WP gets him home.

i hope so but the offense scares me in a bad way.
there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

I saw enough of the big offensive teams in the 2000's to know that if our choices are a top offense or a top pitching staff I want the pitching and defense.

I'm sorry, not to digress, but you lose points for saying the word "points" in this context.

They also have The Nationals at #3........even after last year's hype and disappointment. I expect that to happen again.

All models are wrong, but some are useful.

And like weather models, the further away from the event they are, the less accurate they are.

I'll take #9 for now. Pitching and defense will keep you in a lot of ball games. More so than hoping you can out slug your opponent. We've seen that model.

I don't. I think they win the east. I see last year for them as similar to the Reds 2011.

I agree with you here. That team is too talented not to be competitive. Injuries seemed to hurt them a lot last year and I expect them to have a huge bounce back season.
