    Ervin Santana?

After reading the original CBS article, I think it is 100% speculation. Latos is seemingly fine, but it would definitely not paint a rosy picture on the Homer Bailey negotiations if we are kicking the tires on Santana.

I'm hoping we can lock up Bailey, and keep our pick.

I don't see how the Reds have money for him, and I wouldn't want to risk it.

I would have to think the Reds are one of those teams he mentions that want to get Santana only on the cheap. He will likely get a reasonable deal - maybe not what he thinks is reasonable but what you'd call cheap either. Heck the Royals will offer him that.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

If I remember correctly, the Reds have to give up a pick in the draft to sign him. Given that, I think I'd lay off unless Walt already has a blockbuster on the table for another starter.

Santana had a bounce back season and i'm sure someone will pay him and I hope it's not the Reds!

Talk about a bad fit! The last 3 years he's given up a ton of HR's while pitching in the caverns of Angels and KC's park s. Giving up 1.33 HR per 9 innings the last 3 years. Not to mention we'd have to overpay to get him.
