"We've made progress," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "There are still some outstanding issues. Hopefully they get resolved in the next 24 hours or else people are going to have to suit it up and go east."

Bailey's arbitration hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Florida and the pitcher would have to leave Arizona sometime Wednesday to be there with his agents at Excel Sports Management.

Jocketty declined to specifically identify the remaining differences in the talks.

"It's a lot of little things," he said. "The structure of the contract, how it's paid and things like that."

Nothing wrong with vegetarians. Plenty of examples of creatures in nature that don' t eat the flesh of other creatures ---we call them "prey."

Yes, they would, and Morris has them.

They are still pounding out the details, fishy is when neither party says anything.

It takes a bunch of lawyers and the principals to agree on a contract and the little words are what take time.

The devil is in the details.

I don't think so. There are lots of details in any contract.

These days, with everyone on twitter etc., prospective deals get broken before there is actually a deal signed. I wouldn't worry that it is taking longer than usual.

The arbitration hearing is scheduled for Thursday, apparently in Florida.

Nobody wants to get on a plane to go to Florida for a hearing if indeed a LTC is very close.

So I'd expect them to work late tonight and likely announce something (hopefully positive) by tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

The obvious guess is debating a no-trade clause. It also sounds like deferred compensation and how much.

I read an article where Bailey said he hadn't bought a suit for the arbitration hearing. That would seem to indicate he thinks something will get done before Thursday.

I read it the same way. I don't think anything screams "out of the ordinary" here. We've just got too much information.

I know he's a country boy, but I'm sure he owns a suit.

    Just saying.

I wonder if he is a asking for an opt-out provision. No basis for this query other than they seem to be getting more common.

Money and years are done. They'll work around the clock to make sure the deal is completed, signed, and that an arbitration hearing never occurs on this case.
