Learned today that #reds 3B Jack Hannahan had shoulder surgery after season. Still rehabbing. That one wasn't announced last yr.

Maybe this explains why he was awful last year?
Also, maybe this could open a spot that wasn't expected to be open, if he has any setbacks.

Jack Hannahan was bad in 2013 with a fWAR of -0.2.
Jack Hannahan was just as bad in 2012 with a fWAR of -0.1.
On the surface, Jack looks like a worse than replacement player. However, one has to consider that Jack did not get more than 318 PAs in either season and only has 162 as a Red.
2011 is really not too long ago and in only 366 PAs, Jack accumulated 2.3 fWAR. This is supurb for a bench player.
There is no way Jack should start over Todd Frazier everyday, but I cannot conclude that Jack "sucks" based upon such a small sample in Cincinnati.
Chris Nelson has been the Reds #2 3B this spring. Chris Nelson has never had a year with better than a -0.3 fWAR. Yes, that is a negative sign before the 0.3. Therefore, according to fangraphs, Chris Nelson has never had a better year than Jack Hannahan. Defense plays a large part in these WAR scores, but be careful what you wish for...
I wouldn't buy fWAR with bitcoins.

No need for one, just makes for an easy quick glance evaluation of a player.
I was just using the most convenient argument that one cannot conclude that Jack Hannahan "sucks."

I read an article about a student who wrote a paper about them at the very beginning - he bought a few at that time - forgot about them and found he had a pile of $$$ later
