Awkward Griffey Jr. Interview on SC

SportsCenter was hyping up this interview with Griffey Jr. and talking about his baseball card collection. I think it is pretty obvious that Griffey is only doing the interview because of his contract with Upper Deck.

It has to go down as one of the more awkward conversations I've seen in awhile. Linda Cohn gets some of my respect for being able to make it through the interview....

He needs to be only allowed to speak with kids under 10 and fellow adult superstars. He's a trainwreck communicating with the rest of the world.

"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

He's always been a weird guy, but wow. That takes the cake.

Hey, at least he didn't fall asleep during the interview. Progress.

Doesn't even look like Jr. The solo chin patch thing doesn't work for you man. Gotta have the full goatee.

Also, it's 2014, who wears visors?
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

I Have only seen the short clip of this over on Deadspin but it seemed like there was a serious audio delay on Griffey's end. Like those old transatlantic phone calls where you kept talking over the other person because of the travel delay.

Whoever had to do the closed captioning for that interview must have been thrilled. It's almost like a day off for them.
