So last year's two injured starters are this year's healthiest and will pitch the opening two games.

Brett Marshall going on DL, Simon will start April 6. Opens the door for Diaz or Trevor Bell or somebody.

No surprise about Cueto but a little bit about Cingrani. Are they giving Bailey more time for the groin issue?

I obviously prefer everyone healthy but do like Cingrani getting a start against the Cardinals who struggled against LHP last season.

    OBP/SLG

    vs LHP .301 /.371
    vs RHP .343 /.412

Now it feels real. Carve em up, Johnny!

Well.. At least we have Simon as our 5th starter. I guess this is what happens when you just pursue non roster invitees to spring training..

Which is exactly what you are supposed to do when you have 5 starters in pen on your roster.

You're supposed to make someone who was a solid relief pitcher last year; your 5th starter because none of the SPers on the roster are good in enough for a spot start?

My guess is that Bailey gets a start this week-end to help build his pitch count before his first real start. He'll just need pushed back to the third or 4th game to get his proper rest between outings.

    From Cincinnatireds.com.
Assuming Bailey is still feeling OK, his next start would most likely be on Saturday for the Reds in an exhibition at Louisville. That could put him on track to pitch the third game of the regular season, which would be April 3 against the Cardinals.

Which SP was available after the WS last year do you think wanted to come to a team that had NO OPENINGS in the rotation?

I'm coming in from out of town for the opening series. Please let there not be a rain out games 2 or 3.

Take with a grain of salt as this is 6/ 7 days out (and this is only based on the GFS model) but looking at the GFS model it looks like rain may be moving in a little after the Wed night game ends and continue through Thursday.

    And, Cingrani looked great today.

Weather here in L'ville is garbage once again. Wonder what plan B is if this gig gets rained out?
