A Carlton Daal error leads to two Whitecaps runs in the seventh. A wild pick off attempt and a wild pitch gift West Michigan with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth. Dragons trail 5-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Carlton Daal and Joe Hudson have two hits apiece on the night.

Beau Amaral is on first with one out when Gelalich drills on into the gap. A Whitecap outfielder makes a heckuva catch. Down to the last out with Philip Ervin coming to the plate.
Ervin hustles down the line and beats out a grounder to short. First and second with Sean Buckley up. And he takes a called third strike. Unbelievable. Dragons fall 5-4.

A Juan Silverio walk precedes a Devin Lohman double that halves the deficit. Pensacola trails 5-4.

In his second inning of work, Contreras strikes out the side around a single and a stolen base. After seven full, Pensacola is still down a run.

Yes. Per his request. I'd almost believe he will be groomed to be the eventual closer of the future in Cincy. He has some nasty stuff.

That is a good question. He just pitched a third inning, striking out the side again. His line now is 3IP 2H 0R 0ER 0HR 0BB 6K.

If he is going to close eventually in Cincy, you might think he would close in Pensacola. Not many closers go (at least) three innings with the team trailing.

I have no idea what his eventual role might be.

Travis Mattair leads off the home half of the eighth with a line-drive single. Juan Silverio continues his perfect night with his second double of the game. He has also walked and been hit by a pitch. Blue Fish have runners on second and third with nobody out.

Brodie Greene singled in the tying and go-ahead runs. Bryan Anderson has followed with the fourth consecutive safety for Pensacola. When it rains, it pours.

Drew Hayes closed it out for Pensacola, striking out a pair.

Wahoos relievers went 5 innings, giving up two hits, walking none and fanning 10.

    Pensacola wins 6-5.

Perhaps Nemesis knows something the rest of us don't, but Contreras was listed as a starter by the Wahoos to the media a few days ago.

Watched the Dayton game and was encouraged by how Travieso looked. Best velocity and breaking ball I've seen from him. His arm looked looser than I've seen it, and he had better presence (confidence). When he gets the ball down at the knees, he's tough. Nice outing.

Also, I have to say I think Juan Silverio can hit. He may not be able to walk, but he can hit.
