    Santiago Replacing Cozart Today

We'll see if this boosts any offensive production out of the SS position. Mesoraco has been moved from the 8th batting spot to the 7th and Santiago will hit before the pitcher.

I wish it would, but unfortunately from what I've seen out of Santiago in his career and his time with the Reds, I don't see any reason to be optimistic.

Cozart needs a break - he is no great hitter but he isn't as bad as he's been so far. Give him rest, clear his head, relax and get back at it.

I'd consider keeping Santiago in against the Rays. He played against the team while on the Tigers and hit the ball hard today.

    Yep.

Cozart looks like he has no clue when he goes up there. Even in the rare instances he manages to work the count in his favor, he inevitably swings at a pitch he has no shot at doing anything with.

    ^That.

I've seen him multiple times get a 1-0 or 2-0 count and he flails away at the next pitch down and away. His swing seems to be a straight-up uppercut which is why he pops the ball up almost every time.

It's so frustrating. He also seems to try and pull EVERYTHING. He thinks he's a slugger.

I like Cozart because he is good glove, and does have 15 HR pop, which is an excellent combo to have in a SS, but man is he an easy out much of the time.

At least for today's game Cozart, who is hitting an awful .034, is batting 8th.

But of course....what do I know. Cozart actually hit a double today!
