This team feels nothing like the one that has made the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years. There is no spark, no positive vibe that I can detect. This feels like a run-of-the-mill NL baseball team that will be lucky to finish .500. Back to the bad old Reds days of the early aughts.
It's early, but this team finds ways to lose both low-scoring and high-scoring games. That's not good. It means we have no identity except for falling short.
If the old saying is true, that the best teams lose 1/3 of their games, the worst teams lose 1/3, and it's the middle 1/3 that make the difference, we have to win today just to be 0-3. Unlike past years during times when things didn't go well, I don't sense a recovery this year.
I hope someone can pull this post up in September and tell me how wrong I was, but I doubt it.
