I still hope they win every game they play and enjoy it when they do, but I just can't bring myself to invest much emotion or day to day attention in this version of the Reds.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

I don't know, they seem too worried that the Celtics might not lose enough to look forward to anything.

I am usually a wait and see guy, but something is still rotten in Denmark, and its not just small sample size. I think it is primarily a lack of gap to gap line drive hitters in the top and the middle of the order. We are two different types of every day player hitters (line drive gap to gap) away from being anything more than barely average offensively.

Power hitting fly ball machines are rally killers, esp. when you hit the bigger ballparks. It can get them by at GAB, as we learned last year, but this glob of fly ball out machine hitters does not play well in the larger parks. The numbers may shake out in the end, but this offense is not aesthetically pleasing to watch on a daily basis, and is going to continue to struggle in big ballparks, which are growing in number.

I agree with the guy that this season felt like a disappointment even before it started. And you're right it's April 9th and a very long season. But we're not beating the Pirates or the Cardinals unless MLB decides to add 28 teams to the playoffs like they want to.

I'm not one who is prone to put much stock in stats or statistical analysis but these results seem to scream an answer. The Reds need to start out at least worse than 4-8 if they hope to have any chance of winning the world series.

I get that the victory a couple of nights ago was concerning but they are still tracking with their current record. People need to relax a little.
How can you expect our fanbase to relax after the disastrous endings to 3 of our last 4 seasons?

I tell ya, I wouldn't want to be in a fox hole with any of you all.
And this is why the beginning part of the year is so frustrating for me. Its great, because baseball is back. Its terrible, because I can't stand threads like these. Not even 10 games in and we're writing this team off. Ugh.

How many times do we have to go over this? How many times?

Year after year... after year.. after year, after year.

The Reds very well may stink this year.. who knows. Its far too early to tell. But after a game like today? I have some hope this team can do some special things.

It's early, but this team finds ways to lose both low-scoring and high-scoring games. That's not good. It means we have no identity except for falling short.

If the old saying is true, that the best teams lose 1/3 of their games, the worst teams lose 1/3, and it's the middle 1/3 that make the difference, we have to win today just to be 0-3. Unlike past years during times when things didn't go well, I don't sense a recovery this year.

I hope someone can pull this post up in September and tell me how wrong I was, but I doubt it.

I admit to being a little worried about this season, but right now I'm trying to figure out if I'm worried about the team or if I'm just being my typical, stupidly overreactive self over 6 of the first 8 games being against the (censored) Cardinals.... :P

OK folks, so basically the Reds just shot a double-bogey on Hole 1. That's no reason to chuck your clubs into the pond.

Having watched Kentucky basketball this season, I'd suggest a little patience is in order.
