    Tuesday, April 15th...Minor League Updates:

    Louisville is underway, hosting Toledo.

Sean Marshall pitched the first for the Bats. He gave up a base hit, walked a batter and struck out two. Nice.

Josh Smith takes over pitching duties and sets Toledo down in order in the second.

Louisville bats around in the third while pushing four across the plate.

Boureois singled. Gotay drew his second walk of the day. That preceded four consecutive Louisville singles by Nelson, Ramirez, Perez and Wilson. A sac fly brought home the fourth run of the inning.

Josh Smith has been dealing. In four innings on the bump, Smith has allowed a single tally. Ex-bat, Mike Hessman, sac flied in the only Toledo run.

Louisville has five singles so far but bunched them all in the third. Nice.

    Louisville leads 4-1.

The Mustangs are moving right along up in Dayton. Dayton and Clinton are locked up in 0-0 tie.

Beau Amaral continues his hot hitting with a single and a double.

Sal Romano has hurled five shutout innings. Dayton's team ERA is down to 1.82.

Montgomery draws first blood in the top of the first, taking advantage of some Daniel Corcino wildness. A double, a HBP and two walks resulted in a Biscuit run.
The Blue Fish tie it up quickly in the bottom half of the first on a Donald Lutz double (man he runs well for a big man) and a Steve (Alka) Selsky single.

After 2.5 innings it is all knotted up at a run apiece.

Josh Smith labors in the top of the sixth. Three singles and a second Mud Hen run knock him out of the game. Pedro Villarreal comes on and works his way out of the jam. 4-2 The 'Ville.

Home half of the seventh and there is still no score in Dayton.

    Sal Romano went six. 6IP 7H 0R 0ER 1BB 4K. Chacin works a perfect seventh.

Dragons with just three hits so far in the game.

Pensacola puts four-spot up on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Navarro walks and Bryson Smith singles to set things up. Selsky singles home his second run of the game. A Bryan Anderson triple plates a pair. Juan Duran caps the rally with a single.

Wahoos score twice in the fifth. Selsky leads things off with his third single. Anderson walks. Juan Silverio walks (gotcha-just kidding) singles home the first run. Devin Lohman also drives home a run with a single.

Corcino settles down after a wild first, giving up just a lone walk in the next four innings.

    Pensacola leads 7-1 after five.

The seventh-inning stretch must have awakened Dayton lumber. Buckley starts the rally with a double. A sac bunt moves him up 90 feet. Back-to-back walks to Joe Hudson and Jamodrick (sp?) load them up. Beau Amaral unloads them with his third hit; this one a two-run single. Dragons threaten further but the rally expires on a runner being gunned down at the plate.

Chacin hurls a second 1-2-3 frame, striking out a pair. Chacin has given up two unearned runs now in 7.2 innings of work. He has struck out 12 and walked just two.

Dayton leads 2-zip heading into the bottom of the 8th.

Dayton wins their sixth consecutive contest by a score of 2-0. Their record moves to 8-3. They are in first place in their division of the Midwest League. The shutout lowers their team ERA to 1.74.

Sal Romano worked the first six. Alejandro retired all six batters he faced, fanning three. Scott Brattvet came on and registered his second save. He struck out the side around a walk.

The Dragons only mustered six hits on the night. Beau Amaral had half of them. Two singles, a double and two runs batted in. He is now hitting .341. He stole his 8th base on the season. Sean Buckley doubled and scored. Joe Hudson singled, doubled and touched the pay station. Jamodrick McGruder was issued a pair of free passes. He had a rough night on the base paths though. He got caught stealing and thrown out at home.

Louisville tacked on an insurance run in the 8th to increase their lead to 5-2. Walks to Mikes Wilson and Costanzo placed a couple of runners on base. An Argenis Diaz single brought one runner home.

It is the top of the ninth and that insurance run may prove large. With one out, Toledo batters struck for back-to-back singles.

Pedro Villarreal pitched two scoreless frames. Jumbo Diaz is trying to close a four-out save. Two down now.

The Pensacola bullpen trying to make things interesting in the 8th. Sean Black pitched a scoreless seventh before running into trouble. He allowed a double, a triple and a single, all with one out, to tighten the score to 7-3. Mikey O'Brien came on and promptly walked the first two Biscuits he faced, loading the bases and bringing the tying run to the dish.

I liked this post so much that I posted it three times. LOL. Actually, I have no idea why it did what it did.

Jumbo Diaz gets the final out as Louisville moves to 6-5 on the young season. Baseball is a funny game. Toledo scores two runs on 12 hits. Louisville plates five on just six hits.

Sean Marshall pitched a scoreless first. Josh Smith kept the Mud Hens off the board until allowing a run in the sixth. Louisville bunched five of their six hits in a four-run third. Pedro Villarreal and Jumbo Diaz combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

No Louisville hitter had more than one hit, one run scored or one run batted in.

Ruben Gotay went hitless, but walked three times. Mike Wilson and Max Ramirez each singled and walked twice.

Louisville wins by a final score of 5-2.

Re: Tuesday, April 15th...Minor League Updates:

It is a 7-4 final in Pensacola with the Wahoos picking up the win. They are in at least a first-place tie in their division of the Southern League with a 7-5 record.

Daniel Corcino with a bounce-back effort. He goes six innings allowing a run on just two hits. He did walk four and hit a batter. Drew Hayes saved it with a scoreless, hitless inning of relief. He walked two and did not strike out anyone.

There were contributions all through the Pensacola lineup. Bryson Smith went 3-5. Steve Selsky also went 3-5. Donald Lutz singled, doubled and walked. Rey Navarro doubled and walked. Bryan Anderson walked and tripled (man he can run for a catcher). He scored twice and drove in a pair. Juan Duran had two singles in four trips to the plate.
