    Not quite sure how to gauge "better arm," though. Ondrusek has a better arm than anyone in Reds pen not named Chapman, and he's an ongoing nightmare. Give me a guy who can pitch.

    If Ondrusek really had a better arm in a meaningful way, he'd be starting, or at the very least, closing.
    "Man, the pitch looks fast, even in slow motion." Thom Brennaman on Chapman's fastball.

    Jumbo Diaz has a better arm than Ondrusek.

    Re: All Things Stephenson

    While there are some differences in various sources, Stephenson seems to be throwing more fly balls this year. For example MILB.com. shows his GO/AO reduced from 2013 at 1.21 to 2014 at 0.77.

    This is more important IMO than home runs allowed.

    Even a good bat misser should avoid a high rate of both walks and fly balls. Except maybe in a cavernous stadium like Petco. This combination can be a real problem, ask Hoover.

    In Stephenson's case all these issues could be a result of command issues IMO. Fly balls could be too many pitches up in the zone. I think we need to wait a full season in 2015 before drawing conclusions.

    And Broxton. Partch is probably right behind Diaz, although he's not in Cincy ATM. Clearly, velocity isn't everything.
    Choo got it, dude.

    ? Ondrusek does not have a better arm than Jumbo Diaz who hits 99 consistently.

    Numbers != Stuff.

    Stuff does not mean results

    Cueto has never had serious control issues, which is what Stephenson has now. He'll adapt or he won't, but it has nothing to do with pure stuff.

    Yes, I am arguing both sides.

    A very nice send-off effort by Stephenson: 7IP 3H 1R 1ER 3BB 9K.

    I have a feeling this thread is not going to have any trouble staying around.
