This thread could use a bump. Or a lot of bumps, one after every game Cozy draws a blank at the plate.

With an OPS of 0.501, Cozart is dead last out of all qualifying 25 MLB SS.

Owings is still hitting well for AZ, I wish Jocketty would stop playing shuffleboard and call them about Gregorius.

    .304 .386 .464 .850 (160 PA, Reno)

But Jocketty is the same guy that thought Janish had game.

Is Cozart really the BEST option we have? I have a hard time believing that we don't at least have someone in the minors who is worthy of getting a shot. I've been patient, but this is 20% of the way through the season and Cozart is still hitting below .200. Something has to give at some point.

You forget that the Reds have unending patience.

Yes, right now Cozart is the best option in the organization.

That says a lot about the depth in the organization.

Santiago, Negron, Lohman, Daal. With regular PT could pop out to the infield 4x a game like Zach. But can they field?
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.

Daal is the only guy on that list who may have a better career than Cozart. And I can promise you the Reds aren't calling him up from Dayton. He has less than 200 total professional PA.

The Reds made a huge gamble by trading Gregorius away. It didn't pay off. Not they have to lie in the bed that they made.

Don't get me wrong, the Reds shortstop depth isn't something to write home about, but no one has shortstop depth. Last season Zack Cozart was not even one of the 10 worst starting shortstops in baseball from the offensive side of things. Think about that for a minute. If teams had shortstop depth, we would see it in the Majors. But we don't. It is Tulowitzki, a huge gap, a group of 5-6 other guys, then a whole bunch of 1980's types of non-hitting all glove guys that make up the rest of the league.
