I think this will be an unpopular opinion here, but count me as more of a fan of the steriod era. It's the era I grew up in, and it's a style of play I like a lot more. To be honest, this style of baseball is somewhat boring to me. Over the past few seasons I've found myself becoming more and more of a fan of the NFL and less of a fan of MLB. I have no interest in watching 1-0, 2-1 games every night.

I started watching in 1987, so the expansion/high offense era (I refuse to call it the steroid era) was a bit of culture shock for me. I'm glad it's over.

But the real challenge was sneaking into the blue seats to get autographs before the game, when you had a $3.50 ticket. My brother perfected it. He would meld in with a large family, and the usher would lose track on number of tickets/people. I got busted every single time I tried. I had to resort to getting autographs after the game outside the locker room, which included a stiff arm to the chest that knocked me on my butt, from one JB after the Cubs had swept them in a doubleheader. Loved that style of baseball, but that was probably because it included two WS wins.

There was a booth you could go and get a temporary blue seat pass before games. Someone didn't read the fine print in the program.

Yep, I'm not even asking for a home run derby. I'd settle for more contact. Heck, I'd settle for more swings.

If contact went up you'd have home run derby again. HR/contact are mostly unchanged from that era. The only difference is less contact. Not drug testing.
