They had a similar "path" (and outcome) as the Reds last year ..... a winning record, runner-up in their division (we were 3rd), and lost in the WC play-off.

But this is a team that in the last 19 years has made 8 post-season appearances (2 WS's), and a .521 winning %. A lot of other teams in MLB have accomplished far worse, including the Reds (same time frame ..... 4 post-season appearances, no WS appearances, and a .491 winning %).
you obviously haven't spent alot of time around their fanbase. worst of the worst. they were nothing up until the mid 90's and then everyone hopped on their bandwagon

Unfortunately this year the AL looks better than the NL everywhere i look i see an NL team being beaten by the AL. Sucks, i even cheer for the Cardinals against the AL. If someone knows where the records are for W-L between the leagues this season and post it that would be great. Hopefully we can win the All star game

offense got off to a good start but only because RA Dickey was scratched but the Reds continue to struggle with those AL bats. Just can't get them out, tomorrow and Sunday will be very foretelling.

this thread needs to be pinned and never removed now. After this game the Reds are officially owned by the American League in every way, shape, and form

What does that have to do with the fact that for two decades, theyve been a better franchise?

Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

So what will it mean I if they win today and take the series against the AL East leader?

It means you shouldn't being a football fan's mentality into being a baseball fan?

step in the right direction and something to be expected against an inferior league but the Reds are still 1-2 against the AL this season in series and historically have been dreadful against them.

What does historically have to do with the price of tea in China?

After taking the series from Toronto I think the lesson is that fans do not have the players ability to just forget a big loss and move on.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

bump. Reds now 4-6 against the AL. Next 2 games are crucial against a team thats supposedly not very good but they are from the AL so they automatically get bumped up a little.

Top 6 in the order were a collective 2 for 23, with 9 Ks tonight. Zack's 2 hits, the lone bright spot from the top 6. They made this Phelps kid look like Randy Johnson...in his prime.

i dont think this is a coincidence either. The Reds do not perform well against the AL on a consistent basis.

At least you Reds play the Yanks on the road. They beat us AT Busch. I really want to see how the Cards fare against the Red Sox in August before I believe in this AL dominance.

4-7 now. The struggle is real. Reds being exposed this series. Yankees probably look at the Reds lineup and laugh
