I know that he is in the midst of the best year in his career, but I don't understand why he couldn't be up here and playing right now. He's 29, and he's probably not going to play his way into a monstrous contract situation at age 36 if he's brought up now.
Maybe there's something else going on, but it's really confusing to me to see players with poor bat speed and crummy retreads on the team when you have an idea asset to try out down in AAA. Maybe the Reds are really high on him, and he will be the everyday LF or 4th OF next year? I don't know. There's kind of a mini-backlog of those types of players (Lutz, Perez, Lamarre if you are on that train) who could fill LF until Winker is ready, so I guess I don't know why the Reds don't want to see what they have there- especially considering that Ludwick isn't impressing so far this season.
