    5/30/14 Reds @ Diamondbacks

    Hamilton 8
    Schumaker 7
    Phillips 4
    Bruce 9
    Frazier 5
    Bernadina 3
    Mesoraco 2
    Santiago 6
    Leake 1

    Bernadina's first start at 1B.

Seriously, did Lutz run over Price's dog or something?

Don't get that at all. Bernadina over Lutz. As my son would say, "what the, what the?"

I was almost ready to predict a Lutz dinger against Arroyo tonight.

only 4 current Reds have faced Arroyo and 3 are in the lineup (Ludwick is sitting). Bernadina is 7 for 10, Schumaker is 19 for 51 and Santiago is 2 for 3. Hopefully, Leake pitches a gem and Reds win.

So Bernadina is 7 for 10 against Arroyo.

You might have Kiko's post repeated throughout the thread so people would know why he's playing.

Maybe we can set up a repeating post, show it twice a page.

As for Lutz, this is one game I'm fine that he's on the bench. Arroyo has big trouble with lefties, but he's real crafty and likely to give Lutz trouble with the off-speed stuff. Lutz perhaps could have played yesterday, against a more traditional RHP, instead of Ludwick.

wow --- I did not know the above -- 7/10 -- that is impressive

personally -- I'd sit Bruce at this point and put Bernadina in RF with Lutz at 1B --- hope Bruce throws 3 eggs in my face

Then put him in the OF where he plays.

I was there when Juan Castro started at first base.

    This is worse.

Wow, Bernadina at first. Can't fathom the reasoning why Price continues to weaken the 1B position by putting guys there who are unfamiliar with it. Bernadina has never played the position in the major leagues. Seriously, this isn't fantasy baseball. Pena and Lutz should be manning 1B until Votto gets back, period. Mind boggling.

One could say that Reds fans like to criticize line-ups (Dusty Baker would). But really, having an Ofer who is hitting .146 playing 1B is pretty crazy. It's not like these crazy line-ups are working. I can't even understand why Bernadina is in the majors. Dusty Baker must be laughing somewhere thinking of all of those whiny Reds fans. No other team has to go through this ridiculousness. The problem is it is not even working. Last nights line-up produced what? 3 hits.

I'm struggling to understand Bernadina at 1B -- isn't Skip the more likely choice with his infield experience & wouldn't Bernadina cover more ground in the OF?
