Now that the Reds are ahead again I'd lift Simon at the first sign of trouble. The league is obviously catching up to Alfredo and it's hard to win series on the road.

Problem is Reds bullpen doesn't have that many reliable guys right now, but the DBacks were tagging Simon last inning.

They really don't even have to be really good. You can win in the postseason with a few great hitters, a hole or two and a lot of average hitters if you have pitching and defense. Let's be honest, the offensive juggernauts are not the teams that typically fare well in the postseason. Pitching & defense correlates much higher to postseason success.

It is a question who will be replaced when Latos comes back Simon or Cingrani but I think the best move will be to move Simon back to the bullpen

    Nice bounceback frame for Simon.

I like this new pitcher they brought in to replace Simon -- he's much better
The older I get - the better I was

and yes - I hate the Cardinals (Reds fan since 1958)

    I miss Raisor

That was a nice rebound inning for Simon.

The Cards replaced Pete Kozma as starter before the paint was even dry on the 2013 season.

And they had the second highest team OPS in the league last year, even with Kozma. But they wouldn't live with a subpar OPS starting shortstop.

And by the way, Kozma had a higher UZR defensively than Cozart last season. Didn't bother the Cards. They made the move.

Third time is the charm, I guess
