Tuesday, June 3, 2014...Minor League Updates:

Louisville is clawing its way back to the .500 mark. They stand at 28-30 entering tonight's play.

Chien-Ming Wang is on the mound. After a slow start at Louisville, Wang has pitched well in 6 of his last 7 starts. Two starts prior he produced a rarity. He went 8 scoreless innings without striking out a batter. He has it working again tonight. He has allowed just one earned run so far, while striking out five.

Louisville leads 2-1 after five full.

Jason Bourgeois is 2-3 with a double and a run scored. The two hits have pushed his average up to .288. Neftali Soto has doubled and scored the second Bats' run. Louisville has gotten sac flies from Iribarren and Costanzo; and all is right in Marty's world. Of note: Felix Perez has singled twice and is hitting .308 now. Perez's single followed an Iribarren walk, placing runners on the corners. Chris Nelson ground into a twin killing, but a run scored. Soto followed with a solo blast. The score is now 4-1.

At Pensacola, Mikey O'Brien is on the mound tonight. He runs hot and cold, and tonight he is definitely hot through four innings. He has given up just one run, unearned, while fanning six.

Brodie Greene singled and rode home on a Steve Selsky base knock. Selsky is hitting .305. Selsky's career minor league OBP is .381. Reds could use someone like that in their lineup. I am not suggesting Selsky is that guy. But an OBP of .381 looks nice.

Game is tied at one apiece.

Never mind Duran. Yorman hit into a game-ending DP.

Winker may not have got on base his first time up at the plate, but he did gun down a guy trying to score.

Winker needs to be called up at the All-Star break.

Both of the organization's DSL entries came up on the short end of the score.

DSL Reds - Every regular save one had a hit in the game. On the bump, Yerry Santos hurled three perfect innings, fanning four. Last season, Santos had a 12/45 K/BB ratio. Everyone else that took the ball gave up runs.

DSL Rojos - Francis Guerrero singled twice in five plate appearances. Michael Beltre went 2-3 with an HBP and an RBI. Beltre is just 18.

Yoel de Jesus started and struck out six in four innings of work. Jairon Corcino pitched a scoreless ninth.
