Here's Matt Garrioch's early draft rankings.
Though he only ranks #30 on the list, I'm not sure I could resist the temptation to draft super-athlete Kyler Murray if he's there at #11.
I'm not a system player. I am a system.
REDREAD (01-13-2015)
Interesting thought. I don't know enough about him one way or the other to make an informed statement, other than to say that targeting high-ceiling guys who play up the middle should be first and foremost the strategy going into this draft. There's enough pitching that letting arms take a back seat to position players, particularly those who play C, 2b, SS, and CF would not be a bad thing. Without knowing more about Murray (would he turn pro and focus on baseball only?), I'd say the dream scenario is that Bregman or Cameron falls to #11.

I've liked Bregman since he came out of high school. We'll see how the LSU season plays out....but I think he may be the kind of middle infielder the Reds system can use (i.e., a grinder who can hit).
May be interested in this Betts character. Big LH bat who catches works for me.
Daz Cameron....no way he falls to 11 but I can dream
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...
I think Cameron actually looks a lot like Phil Ervin. Will be interesting to see if Buckley and co. Go for that kind of profile again.
My dream is Brendan Rogers somehow falling. After that, Swanson or Cameron would be nice.
Go BLUE!!!

Scherzer rejected the Tigers’ qualifying offer earlier this offseason, so the Nationals will sacrifice their first-round pick of this year’s draft, No. 27 overall, as a result of the signing. The Tigers will acquire the No. 35 pick.

4 picks in the top 100, 2 in the top 50. Not bad.

Padres To Sign James Shields
By Charlie Wilmoth and Steve Adams [February 9, 2015 at 11:35am CST]
12:35pm: Shields’s option is worth $16MM, and the contract contains no incentives, tweets Cotillo. The deal can max out at $91MM over five years if the option is picked up.
Regardless of whether or not one considers Shields an ace or merely an upper-echelon starter, a pitcher of his quality was a lock to receive and reject a qualifying offer, which is precisely what happened. As such, the Padres will pay the steep price of surrendering their first-round pick — the 13th overall selection and one of the best non-protected picks in the draft. Unlike previous iterations of draft-pick compensation, the newest form, established in the 2012 collective bargaining agreement, calls for the Royals to receive a compensation pick at the end of the first round.

Pitcher Jacob Nix could be a late first round pick in the upcoming Rule 4 draft, reports Kieth Law of ESPN.com (Insider required). You may recall Nix’s part in Houston’s Brady Aiken fiasco – he was the player who lost a $1.5MM bonus when Aiken failed to sign. Without Aiken’s expected under slot signing bonus, the club didn’t have the funds to honor Nix’s deal without losing 2015 draft picks and money. Nix is now pitching with IMG Academy, a post-graduate team in Bradenton, Florida.
