A couple of Reds, Bubbles Hargrave and Cactus Keck.

Was 'Rube' (Waddell, Benton, etc.) a nickname or a common name?

Just a personal favorite is Yogi Berra.

Nickname, it generally was tagged on the country guys ( IE they were Rubes)

Prior to Rube the country guys were often derided with the moniker Cyrus, which was why Cy Young was called Cy.... Initially that is

Ivey Wingo is another old Reds catcher

These days you rarely see a nickname become part of the regular name like Jumbo Diaz or Scooter Gennett. Can you imagine if we had Big Donkey Dunn?

The first time I saw Angel Pagan's name come up on the scoreboard in Chicago, I fell off my chair.

    Motorboat Jones and Butch Huskey.

Generally, any baseball names that could pass as porn names are funny.
