I agree with Welch on that. Somebody should just convince Billy to carry batting gloves in his hands while on the bases to eliminate that jamming of fingers into the bases. I never understood the use of that contraption.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

Very interesting insight by Welsh on what hitting coach Don Long does with Frazier.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Close play on the Harrison SB. He was safe though.

Votto singles again. He is in pure Vottomatic mode.

2-2 on Votto, more cleanly shaven today, after a low one is called a strike.

But you can't keep Votto down. Hit. Runner to third. Throw to third, Votto at second.

So we are now in RISP with one out land.

    Phillips.

Yes he looks so much better since he got back. Really looks dialed in.

He's a machine. Love his approach. Best I've ever seen in my lifetime as a Reds fan (and that includes all of the BRM).

Thank you for your contribution, Volquez. Please come again!

Speaking of dialed in, Phillips doubles, 3-0. 18 doubles for BP.

With Simon's command looking erratic so far, that means a likely short stint. A short stint likely means more middle relief. More middle relief means... SCORE MORE RUNS!

As I read this post, I immediately started quoting "if you give a mouse a cookie" in my head. Too many kids in this house. LOL.

Throwing a wild pitch to allow a run in and walking to cover the plate when there could have been a play has to be the most Edinson Volquez thing ever.
