Fascinating move. Probably also means it's now open season for trade speculation that the Reds might move an arm for a bat. Seeing that Iglesias might not be ready for the rotation until next season, I'd guess Tony Cingrani is the one going into the shop window.

In the case of Rasiel Iglesias, he first attempted to defect in September of 2013 but was arrested by the police after being forced out of hiding due to dehydration from spending a week in the mountains

Chapman this offseason came to my mind.
I read a week or two back that there was thought that he could be put into the Major League bullpen even yet this season. I wonder (hope) if this is still the thought process?

4 a year isn't crazy money for a reliever, but I really doubt they would sign a reliever (that isn't Chapman) to that long of a deal.
Me thinks they'll try to make him a starter.

I would be really surprised if Chapman is no longer in a Reds uniform and wasn't tried as a starter. It would be a terrible waste of an asset.
I hope not, reds need a shutdown reliever, there's enough starting pitchers in the organization right now.
