Reds Starters over last 30 games

Most interesting statistic -the Reds five starters as of 6.29.14 are 16-4 over the last 30 games. Bailey had a shut-out today but lost to a Shut-out in the last game the Reds lost in Chicago.

Where were we in 1972 when the Reds last won four at San Fran. 42 years ago.

At the end of the day on May 18,1972, the Reds were 2.5 behind the Astros in 3rd place in the NL West. Their record was 16-13. So sweeping that series brought their record over .500.

We already knew the starting staff was ELITE, the problem is with the hitting and middle relief but hopefully those are coming around. We'll see

I wonder as do many followers why they have so many relief pitchers but still feel a need to use the closer four days in a row.

4 is the limit to me but a guy needs to be able to go 4 days if he is a closer. Chap was hitting 100 - his command was a tad off.
99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

As physically strong as Chapman is and how management talks about how he's the most athletic player on the team, I would think going 4 or 5 days in a row throwing 1 inning should be a cakewalk for him.
