    But anyway...

I understand that this is just one game and there are egos and personalities involved. So maybe that's the reason.

Because otherwise, I don't see why you'd want a weaker hitter getting more plate appearances in any game.
It's not just about "egos" but it's also about comfort level. Not everyone is comfortable in every spot.

The point is, there's far too much hand wringing about lineup construction. Swapping Phillips for Mesoraco means, at most, a couple runs for an entire season. It's really pointless to worry about.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like the Reds run into a lot of outs.

Am I the only one who is sick of hearing our announcers say he got a great jump only to see him thrown out easily?
I may not be fast, but I sure am slow.

    Interesting inning.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

This is a legitimate question (not trying to be snarky):

If an infielder puts his knee in front of the bag before he has the ball, why isn't the runner automatically safe the same way he would be if it happened at the plate?

No idea. Always wondered why they're going out of their way to protect catchers now, but you still see violent DP breakups around second base.

Everybody talks about the Posey play, but protecting catchers has more to do with lawsuits over concussions than anything.

You don't see many guys getting concussed playing MIF (almost typed something else on accident). That's why.

Bruce catches the second out. But where did that 1-2 pitch miss?

Course, doesn't help that Latos shows up the ump.

Ha! The one time I did hook up with a MILF, I was concussed for weeks.

I'll take the Reds first inning over the Padres first inning.

Keep getting guys on and good things will happen.

Latos can't let the ump get in his head. He needs to get better at not letting that affect him.
