I'm intrigued by this idea too [i.e. bringing up Anderson] but I think what will prevent it happening is the same thing that's working against Soto. I'd guess Walt and Price don't see it as a 1b problem because we've got at least 3, maybe 4, options there: Bruce, Pena, Frazier, now Lutz. If you're committed to Bruce at 1b, then to replace him with Soto means moving Bruce back to RF and sitting Heisey basically. If you want to have Soto up, it's really only as a starter because he has no flexibility as a backup. So it's basically Soto vs. Heisey--and I think Anderson presents a similar problem. I'm betting it's going to be Hannahan after the break. Schumaker takes over most of the 2b, backed by Santiago; Bruce does most of the work at 1b, backed by Frazier, with Hannahan at 3b when Frazier plays 1b; Bruce can to right when Frazier or Pena play first, Heisey shifts to LF or CF to rest Ludwick or Hamilton; Lutz gets an occasional start in LF; Negron backs everybody.

Walt has done an excellent job in creating the AAA Bats. Players that I hope are kept in the Reds organization after 2014 are:

    Rey Navarro
    Bryan Anderson
    Thomas Neal
    Ruben Gotay

Also I hope Brett Marshall sneaks thru waivers, he'd be lethal in the bullpen.

AZL Reds won on a walk-off homer by Narciso Crook, who turned 19 last night. Not a bad gift.
