Very interesting that they're that high on Kivel and no sign of any of the 2014 draftees- which BA tends to place a premium on (recent draftees).

Hard to imagine Kivel and Moscot being thought of as better prospects than Nick Howard at this point.

I might put Lively and Howard (and Iglesias- if he counts) ahead of Ervin, but otherwise, this seems fairly reasonable.

2014 Draftees weren't eligible for the list.

Makes a lot more sense. I assume that includes Iglesias as well.

It'll be interesting to see where the larger ratings community lands on Kivel vs. Mahle after the season. Both are showing ability as young arms in a hitters league.

    Correct they don't mention Iglesias.

Does this all include reports, or is it just a list style? I was thinking about buying it, but if it's not giving me reasons on why they have certain guys where, I'm going to save my five bucks and eat lunch on it. A few guys in there I'm intrigued about reading what they have to say to see if it matches up at all with what I've got.

It's about a paragraph on each player, I would say they give about half the content as the Prospect Handbook.

Good enough for me. Hopefully BA sends you your commission check for my $5.00

Wait a minute ... I actually have an account at BA. Perhaps I ought to go check this out for myself!

Not available unless you actually subscribe to the magazine or bu a digital copy of the magazine. Unless I was duped, because I too have a BA online subscription. In which case, I probably should have figured that out before I spent $5.

You are right. The website still lists the old list.

Re: Baseball America's Reds Updated Top 10

The posts from redsof72 have me more worried than I was about both Yorman and Ervin. All of what he said makes sense in the context too.

He put into better words than I could the point about Yorman's age, which I feel is an apt one. Not all 21 (soon to be 22) year olds are the same in baseball years. You look at the amount of high quality instruction and playing time that Yorman has had compared to a lot of the other 21 year old guys (or a guy like Mesoraco for example at the same age) and he should get a little bit less benefit of the doubt in terms of the "young for his league" excuse. It would be nice, after all these years, to see just one really good season from him. Just can't get excited about him any more. And if he really is our 6th best...

Need to hope that the 2014 draft class comes through because the system is starting to feel a little top heavy with a nice 3 or 4 and then a lot of question marks.
