Surprisingly good at bat by Heisey.

there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

If I was scouting for a team, I would put my priorities on a hitter being disciplined and making contact. It seems so many hitters coming up just want to hit the ball 500 feet every at bat.

With Votto out, Phillips out. With no true starting LF (IMO). With a bad hitting SS. And with resting a good hitter.

    Reds lineup looks pretty weak.

Still can do well in a particular game, obviously, but just reading the names is deflating.

Guess I won't read the names for awhile. Go Reds.

Nice for Lutz to get the start, but since the Phillips injury these lineups baffle me.

Why not Pena at first? He plays the position ok. He's had some good games hitting.

Nothing against Lutz, I just can't figure out these usage patterns.

Ignore the names for a second and look at the numbers.

    123 ab's, .867 ops. 21 k's, 7 bb's.
    119 ab's, .668 ops. 45 k's, 9 bb's.

I know which one I would call up. They both fill a positional need too, so that's not an issue. It's down to the bat only.

I know some will point to Soto's time with the Reds as a reason to not bring him up. But don't discount this.

    April, he got 10 ab's.
    May, he got 18 ab's.
    July, he got 2 ab's.

You can't expect ANYBODY to produce with that kind of playing time. As soon as he got regular reps in AAA, he produced.

I donīt understand why lutz is up and soto in the minors....

pena? he is hitting the past week, but his numbers since the first month arenīt pretty .236 / .261 /.376 OPS: .636
