Reds now play some teams who haven't done as well this year as some recent Reds competitors. So Reds should do better now. DBacks, Marlins, Indians, Marlins, Red Sox, Rockies.

Still need bats..
Brewers have a road trip to Tampa and then St. Louis this week. Reds have Arizona at home and then go to the Marlins. Reds should have a chance to pick up a couple games.

6 games out at the end of July is not a death sentence. Is it likely that they'll make the playoffs? No, not at all.
But I'm a fan of this team, and I still believe they can do it. I'll keep believing that until they're mathematically eliminated.

Those fans of said teams are looking at the Reds and thinking the same thing.
If they can't score more than 1 or 2 runs a game the won't do any better. The offense is now at a 1982 level. I read or saw somewhere that the Reds had gone 9 straight scoring three runs or less in each game. That hadn't happened since 1982. If you don't know how bad 1982 was then look it up. It was bad.

I, unfortunately, remember it well but with this team right now it's not a surprise.
We have 3 positions manned by legit MLB hitters but all are in dreadful slumps.
1 position is manned by a rookie doing better than expected but not great.
The killer is having 4 positions manned, for an extended period of time, by guys who aren't legit MLB hitters. No one is going to win over the long haul at the MLB level with half the team being has been's/never were's.

Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical.

Reds rarely win in Cleveland, are 0-2 vs. Boston already this season and really don't beat the American League anywhere, in any season.
If they can't beat San Diego, it's hard to imagine the six against the Marlins will be anything other than more of what we've seen. And Coors Field has been a house of horrors for the Reds for years, no matter how woeful the Rockies are.
