    Frazier's Ninth Inning At Bat

...it is understood that Todd Frazier needs to take a pitch in an effort to get on base in the ninth rather than swinging for the fences on the first pitch, which at best puts the Reds 1 run behind, the Reds will never learn how to win baseball games. Learning how baseball games are won is a real skill, a skill that the good teams know. If the Reds don't learn this, they will play streaky, unmotivating, unentertaining baseball.

I'd argue that until they get better players in a few positions and certain key players aren't injured, they'll continue to play streaky, losing baseball.

Frazier has the best OPS of any 3B in the NL. While he's having a slump currently, he isn't the problem.

Taking a pitch isn't a winners/losers mindset. It's not the difference between winning and losing. Frazier is hitting .256 and slugging .539 on fastballs where that pitch he swung at was located. If he had hit it into the seats (he's done so 3 times on FB's in that spot this year), would it have been a losing move?

At the moment, Frazier is one the the best players on the Reds. Lets blame him!
"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S.
