We wouldn't get all 3, but Seager/Pederson could happen. The Kemp suggestion could work as well.

Hamilton, Frazier, Votto, Kemp, Bruce, Mesoraco, Phillips, Cozart Very good lineup for 15'

    No, it couldn't.

The Dodgers are looking to trade away outfielders so they can play Pederson. Why would they trade him?

People the only way to pry any of the prospects from the Dodgers, would have been to send Latos or Cueto for Kemp and his contract, demanding Seager and lesser dollars too to make the contract go away. Since Kemp is now playing like the guy the Dodgers are paying, we can stop fantasizing.

I disagree. If the Dodgers we willing to part with even one of the three, either Price or Lester would be wearing Dodger Blue. Even if they were willing to just consider trading Pederson or Seager, the asking Price would start with Cueto (and I would not shocked if they asked for more). Not saying they are worth it or the reds would do it (Cueto + for one of them) - just saying the asking price would be astronomical because these guys are untouchables.

Besides, I don't think Jocketty and/or Castellini have the sack for anything that controversial.

Pirates Designate Ernesto Frieri For Assignment

By Jeff Todd [August 8, 2014 at 4:46pm CDT]

The Pirates have designated reliever Ernesto Frieri for assignment, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports on Twitter. Frieri, 29, came to Pittsburgh in a swap of struggling closers at the end of June.

While his trade counterpart, Jason Grilli, has thrived in his new environs, Frieri has continued to struggle since the swap. Frieri has allowed 12 earned runs in 10 2/3 frames with the Bucs, while striking out ten and walking five batters. Frieri had at least shown with the Angels that he was still capable of missing bats (11.0 K/9) and limiting walks (2.6 BB/9), even if the results were still poor, but obviously those marks too have taken a downturn.

Frieri is earning $3.8MM in his first year of arbitration eligibility. This likely means two things: First, he seems fairly likely to get through waivers, and the Pirates could well welcome a claim anyway. And if he is instead stashed at Triple-A for the time being, Frieri will likely end up as a non-tender after the season.

Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd has apparently been pulled back from revocable waivers after being claimed by an as-yet-unidentified team, as he played tonight for Philadelphia. Reports suggested Byrd was claimed on or before Wednesday, and the 48.5 hour window to complete a transaction (or withdraw the claimed player) would have expired by now.

Phillies Claim Jerome Williams, Designate Sean O’Sullivan

By Steve Adams [August 10, 2014 at 1:03pm CDT]

The Phillies announced that they have claimed right-hander Jerome Williams off waivers from the Rangers and designated fellow right-hander Sean O’Sullivan for assignment. Williams, who will be joining his third organization in a span of six weeks, is expected to replace O’Sullivan in the rotation and make his Phillies debut Tuesday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Matt Gelb. The Rangers will receive $20K from the waiver claim, tweets Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News.

The Reds have released left-hander Scott Maine, Eddy reports. The former Cub was inked to a minor league deal in June after pitching well for the independent Atlantic League’s Bridgeport Bluefish, but he posted a 6.10 ERA in 10 1/3 innings with the Reds organization.

Reds Designate Ryan LaMarre To Clear Space For Raisel Iglesias

By Jeff Todd [August 12, 2014 at 5:03pm CDT]

The Reds have designated outfielder Ryan LaMarre for assignment, according to a tweet from assistant director of media relations Jamie Ramsey. With the move, Cincinnati has cleared a 40-man spot for recently-signed Cuban hurler Raisel Iglesias, who will be introduced today after receiving his visa over the weekend, as C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports (Twitter links).

LaMarre, 25, has missed much of the year due to injury after starting the year at Triple-A. Last year, over 529 plate appearances, mostly at the Double-A level, he put up a .245/.327/.368 slash with 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases (against 13 times caught stealing). The center fielder, a second round pick in 2010, was not ranked among the Reds’ top thirty prospects entering the year by Baseball America.

Meanwhile, Iglesias — who signed a seven-year, $27MM pact in late June — seems close to officially being added to the team’s 40-man roster. The righty is said to be capable of moving quickly to a big league rotation, though the Reds reportedly intend to develop him as a starter. It remains to be seen at what level and in what role the club will initially deploy the 24-year-old.

Josh Willingham was traded to the Royals for some minor leauger. Are we allowed to comment here? If so... I'd insert something negative about Jocketty.

You could comment here negatively toward Jocketty, but you would look silly in doing so, since Willingham was reportedly claimed by the Royals and the Reds never had a chance at him, even if they may have been interested.

Never mind that the Twins took him off the market, since no one wanted to trade for him prior to the deadline.

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/0...-deadline.html

The Twins plan to hold onto Josh Willingham through the trade deadline, reports Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press (via Twitter). Minnesota could, however, deal the outfielder over the August waiver period.

I mean, you could get hot and bothered over missing out on Willingham if you want, but the guy is in the middle of a rough year too, and the only one he would play over would be Ludwick, and their numbers are pretty similar.
