Am I the only Reds fan who doesn't give 2˘ about the All-Star Game next year? I just look at it as a distraction and a pain in the neck for next year. (Of course, I am aware of the economic boom it will provide to the region.)
Maybe I'm just a wet blanket.
Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser....Americans play to win all of the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed...the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.
Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.
I like it.
BTW-I was on vacation last week and when we were at Cedar Point on Friday, I saw a guy walking around in an ASG 2015 t-shirt and was amazed that someone had all ready bought one since they had just gone on sale the day before down here.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
Pete will be at the game. So says Castellini
Answering a fan question at Q&A, Castellini said "You'll definitely see Pete Rose at the All-Star Game this year."
Pete at the All-Star game? Almost makes me want to shell out hundreds of dollars just so I can boo him.
I knew this was coming but I am still disappointed. Unfortunately the game will become less about the city and the Reds and more about a the city's longtime black eye.
Yeah, it's just sort of a tired subject to me. Not sure how anyone really has the energy to care either way anymore.
Get your nunchucks and the keys to your dad's car. I know where we can get a gun
I started to feel bad for Baseball's integrity by having Pete stain this event but then I realized, when it comes to Pete - and other matters - Baseball has no integrity. It almost makes me feel bad for Pete, to tell you the truth and I'm not a big Pete supporter. As Pedro insinuated, when money is involved, MLB is more than willing to give Pete a furlough. I'd have more respect for them if they strictly maintained the ban but they haven't so I really don't have a problem with this. Look at it like this: You can ban him from the game and all ASG activities and risk protests from Pete and Reds fans. More importantly you risk Pete setting up shop at the Horseshoe Casino downtown and putting on a one-man show during the game. Then you have during the telecast them cutting to Pete over at the casino in the middle of the game. Then they start talking about him during the game. Or you can allow him to participate in the activities, appeasing longtime Reds and Pete fans and not have to worry about him setting up shop elsewhere. I'm sure he'll attend the game in one of his funny hats and the cameras will be on him and they will talk about him for a bit but it's better having him inside the tent peeing out than outside the tent peeing in.
We have to face it, he is our burden to bear as Reds fans and Cincinnatians. We can accept it gracefully or throw a tantrum.
