Skip's been good before, but Chris? How is he a MLB bat?

They had 48 hrs to work out a deal. If they can't make a deal, the Phillies will revoke waivers and you may or may not ever hear which team it was.

You realize that Heisey has a higher career OPS and wOBA than Schumaker, don't you?

Anyway, both players' struggles this year are largely (though not completely) BABiP driven, with both about 20 points off their career mark.

Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd has apparently been pulled back from revocable waivers after being claimed by an as-yet-unidentified team, as he played tonight for Philadelphia. Reports suggested Byrd was claimed on or before Wednesday, and the 48.5 hour window to complete a transaction (or withdraw the claimed player) would have expired by now.

Does this mean we don't get to fire Walt now?

Kind of helps make the case against him doesn't it?

The guy obviously has value, Phillies are asking too much and he hasn't cleared the August waiver wire period two years in a row.....except when Walt passed on him and let him go to the Pirates.

And the Pirates gave up Dilson Herrera to get him, and they did not win a playoff series nor did they resign Byrd.

Lots of people here use the play in game as the benchmark for "making the playoffs" so in that sense, yes they did win a playoff "series" with him.

He was very useful for the Pirates and could have been for the Reds. Letting him pass through and land in Pittsburghs lap was one of the big black marks in Walts tenure here.

    Re: Byrd Claimed

I'm a pretty big Walt defender but the decision not to claim Byrd last year was puzzling and a big mistake

WOW, I jacked the crap out of that post.

    Donald Lutz.

Runner on first, no outs, you need to get him to second.
