there's a few i would like to see, perez and that ss that's up at louisville. not sure of the 40 man roster situation.
there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

Ricky henderson has a higher OBP than C. patterson and he's retired. C. Trent 6-14-2008

    Re: September Call Ups 2014

Here are the current 14 options (we must only have 39 on the 40 man right now):
    Tony Cingrani
    Daniel Corcino
    Ismael Guillon
    Raisel Iglesias
    Curtis Partch
    Chad Rogers
Dylan Axelrod as of 5:15 today is on the 40 man now that Votto is retro'd to the 60 day.

Jake Elmore (has played every position in a Major League game, including P and C)
    Donald Lutz
Kris Negron (likely stays if Phillips returns from DL)
    Neftali Soto
    Juan Duran
    Yorman Rodriguez

    15-day DL
    Phillips
    Ondrusek

They could just call up the whole 40 man roster and it wouldn't really help much

The guys I'd most like to see would have to be added. Lorenzen, Felix Perez, Marquez Smith, Rey Navarro. The guys already on the 40 man I'm blah. SO what. Bring em up, leave em down. It's probably too soon for Iglesias, Partch might be somewhat helpful, none of the others seem to improve a thing or are just too soon for them.

For the most part I'd agree. I wouldn't mind seeing what Iglesias has. Even Corcino or Guillon.

If they bring up Perez and Navarro.....and they even play and hit and field better than what Skip, Heisey and Santiago....I wonder if it will just be the September call up mirage or will we wonder why the heck they did not do it sooner. I already have in regards to Perez more than too many times.

Seeing the handling of Soto and Lutz, it's likely Price won't use any of them very much.

He's not the on 40 man, but I think Bryan Anderson definitely deserves a call-up.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

    J.J. Hoover.

Of course before they could call him up, the Reds would need to send him down.

    Re: September Call Ups 2014

This thread is on topic now. With Broxton gone, a 40 man spot is open. In spite of the calls for Felix Perez, he'd be a low priority for me. Rey Navarro should get a look. If the Reds can open another spot (Bailey to 60 day DL?), Ryan Dennick is a guy who I'd give a look. The Reds have been lacking lefty arms all year and Dennick has been good at AAA. 49 IP in 56 Games, 38K, 18 BB, no homers. 2.39 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and a very nice 1.71 GO/AO ratio.

Guys on the 40 man I'd call up: Lutz, Barnhart (but not seeing the love really an would rather see Rossmel Perez, but no shot there), Yorman, Corcino, Hoover, Partch, Contreras, Holmberg (as a reliever). I'd guess the Reds will look at Elmore and give Soto one more look but if it's too many to manage, I'd tell those guys to find a place to play winter ball and let them go home.

That would be quite a lot (12 guys in all). With Broxton gone, it would make 36 on the roster. Have to wonder if some of the walking wounded, (Bruce, Phillips, Frazier, Hannahan, Lecure, Parra) would get shut down. Also have to wonder about Simon making all of his starts the rest of the way. He seems to be still doing OK after a rough patch, but his innings are in uncharted waters.

They should bring up a second baseman and shut down Phillips tomorrow. He doesn't seem able to hit, presumably due to injury. Otherwise, whatever.

Navarro is a switch hitter. A Navarro/Negron tandem would be fine the rest of the way. Just say no to Skippy.

The Louisville Bats announced before the game that Jason Bourgeois will join the Reds in Baltimore. No idea about other players, however. Not crazy about this callup. Bourgeois has been terrible on the bases this season, and is just an OK hitter. The 40 man spot could have been better used for Felix Perez, Ryan Dennick, or Ray Navarro. Hopefully some of those guys still get the call.
