Fowler could be obtained along with Marwin Gonzalez. Gonzalez would be a nice platoon partner with Cozart, given that he is a switch hitter. Cozart is much better against LH pitchers rather than RH pitchers, even posting almost a .700 OPS vs. them in his career. Both showed somewhat of a reverse split in the minors so who knows how effective it would be. I think Fowler would be a really solid addition in LF though.

    J.B. Shuck, anyone?

The Angels designated him for assignment today. I find him interesting as a 27-year-old who can play all three OF positions relatively well and potentially provide a solid, although not powerful, bat off the bench. His 2-39-.293/.331/.366 line in 2013 with the Angels was impressive and it came in 437 big league at bats. He was solid in 81 at bats with Houston in 2011, going 0-3-.272/.359/.321, but balanced that with a dismal 2-39-.167/.195/.250 in 84 at bats this season. Shuck's career minor league numbers are an impressive .304/.382/.392, including a 5-57-.320/.382/.446 this season at Salt Lake City.

While Shuck likely isn't the answer as a starter in LF, he offers a potentially solid bat and sound defense, although he's a poor base stealer. That he played at Ohio State and is from Galion is an added small bonus. Shuck won't be expensive.

Agreed, he'd be a good fit for the Reds.

Cleveland acquired him for cash. Solid pickup for the Indians.
