I'm not selling this low on Bruce and I'm definitely not trading away any outfield offense.

That assumes that Bruce's value will, at some point in the future, be higher than it is now. That is quite possible, but far from a certainty.
If it was Syndergaard for Bruce I couldn't say yes fast enough. While I was at it I'd ask if they want Phillips to.

That said, teams targeting Bruce are surely trying to buy low. The Reds can't win next year if they "cash in" Bruce for his current value. They need him to rebound or for somebody to give us that kind of value.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Well, our biggest need in any trade would be a high upside power bat that can hold down a corner OF position. Which should probably tell you how I feel about the idea of trading Bruce.
