Bengals signed Maualuga to a 3 year deal.

That's Marvin "making a splash" in Free Agency.

Maualuga struggled to cover any Receiver last season and passes are more than 50% of the plays in the NFL right now. However, he had three good weeks last year (weeks 15-17) in Run Support and Pass Coverage. That's great when you think about two of those games were against Peyton and Rapelisburger and C.J. Anderson and Le'Veon Bell, though his run support against Denver was bad. Don't know why he excelled for those three games after playing poorly the previous 9 games of the year. Maybe he's lazy and doesn't give his full effort at all times. Maybe he doesn't prepare for games the way he should. Maybe he's just too dumb to prepare properly (my belief). Whatever reason for his mediocrity, he's always been that...mediocre, at best.

As long as they didn't pay him more than $3M per season, I'm OK with it, but they probably could have picked up someone better for less money. Continuity is great as long as it's continuity of good production.

    Re: 2015 Bengals Offseason

Couple years ago it seemed like Cincinnati was about to start a great run for both its major sports teams and the city had a real chance to celebrate a championship in each league.

Now both teams in the city seem to be right in the same place: sitting right on the precipice of being great if everything works out perfectly, or being extremely meh if even just a few things go wrong.

    From Rotoworld w/ Rotoworld comments:

Bengals extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent SLB Emmanuel Lamur.

It's worth $2.356 million. Teams would have to surrender a second-round pick in order to sign Lamur away from the Bengals. We could see him drawing some interest as a tall, rangy, versatile linebacker, but ultimately nobody is going to want to pay him and give up the pick. He'll be back in Cincinnati.

    Eh alright.

If Harvin comes cheap after he gets cut due to injury concerns, I'd roll the dice on him.

    Re: 2015 Bengals Offseason

I don't think Profootballtalk is claiming any new sources (all they say is "league source", but I've seen a zillion of their "league sources" be crap), but is just connecting the dots. Adding a Greg Hardy and Michael Johnson to replace Geathers would be a huge upgrade (anything would be an upgrade).

    From Rotoworld w/ Rotoworld comments:

Profootballtalk reports the Bengals will try to re-sign DE Michael Johnson if he's cut by the Bucs.

The Cincinnati Enquirer floated it as a possibility last month. Coming off an injury-hampered year where he notched only four sacks in 14 games, Johnson comes with a $9 million cap charge. Releasing him would create $2 million in space, but $7 million in dead money. Johnson spent 2009-13 in Cincy.

Just blow this team up and get it over with.

    From Rotoworld w/ Rotoworld comments:

49ers FB Bruce Miller was arrested last Thursday in Santa Clara, Cal. for spousal battery.

Things keep getting worse in San Francisco. Miller was Pro Football Focus' No. 2 fullback last season and is a big part of the offense as the lead blocker. The 49ers stood by DE Ray McDonald in his domestic-violence case through most of 2014.
