Thought it'd be fun to watch the Pebble Beach Pro-Am yesterday, but I couldn't find it on any channel. Didn't it used to be televised? Or, did I get the day wrong.

    Re: 2015 Golf Season

Well now we have two 2015 golf threads, one 2013 golf thread that is still being used and zero 2014 golf threads. We need to take a break from posting about golf for a while and get our stuff together. I'm not sure when we will start posting again but not until we're ready for tournament level golf posting, and that's not where we are right now.

Maybe a mod can move over the 2015 posts from the 2013 thread?

    Re: 2015 Golf Season

I was talking with a Physical Therapist the other day about Tiger. The gist of the conversation was in hindsight you look back at the violence of Tiger's swing and you had to know he would break down. The amount of torque and stress he put on his knee and back was tremendous. Him breaking down was just a matter of time, not what it looks like now. One of the reasons Tiger was great was his raw strength (and also a short game that was amazing when he was locked in.) Raw strength that allowed him to hit shots no one else could. He no longer has that raw strength, can he become a great player if he dials it back?

One other thing that we made mention of was the way some players generate power in today's game. Keegan Bradly for one locks his left leg on the way through in order to generate a ton of torque. That works now while he is still young, but that knee can sustain that wear and tear over the course of his career.

    That's a lot to ask.

John Daly is in the lead at Pebble Beach!

OK, it's only 7 holes, but how many chances do you suppose I'll get to say Daly is in the lead at a PGA Tour event?

He's in the lead at the chow line, the beer line, the about-to-do-something-stupid line,...

So in an interview on Friday pro golfer Dan Olsen said that Tiger has been suspended for a month for failed drug test. He said "well it's not testosterone but it's something else." He also said when everything comes out Tiger will surpass Lance Armstrong's level of infamy and not because of all the women, that will be a distant memory, according to Olsen.

I wouldn't be shocked if it were true about Tiger but more than that this seems like a strange career move for Olsen.

Wow, that was interesting. I had heard Tiger had used a different ball than what was for sale for the public. I'm guessing it had to tested and legal. But, you never know. As far as the PED's, I definitley believe Tiger has tried his fair share.

I played with Dan about 10 years. We were both in the Hooters Tour. Phenomenal ball striker and very funny.

In your opinion are there going to be guys on the Tour, besides Tiger, that are going to have a problem with what he said?

Just saw that Tiger is not suspended.

I'm guessing most of the guys on tour have no clue who Dan Olsen is. Yes, I think some guys will have a problem with it. The tour is a fraternity. Guys don't want the dirty laundry shared to outsiders. Additionally, I'm sure most guys realize that Tiger still shifts the needle towards the largest purses. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you". Conversely, there are probably a few guys on tour that are done with Tiger and could care less what happens to him.

I'm not sure why Dan would come out and say the things he said. He's obviously going to be more well-known now, but how is that going to help him? Maybe he wants a radio show someday? I really don't know. It's very bold, and stupid, to knock one of the most popular athletes of all time, especially when what he's accusing him of is hearsay.

    Very strange.

Olsen issued a retraction Monday on the web site of WVFN-AM in Lansing, Mich. "I retract the entire interview," Olsen said in a statement. "My comments were ill-advised. I want to apologize to Nike, the PGA Tour, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Tim Finchem."
