... Walter Clement Pipp was born.
Until I saw this tidbit a moment ago, I had no idea he briefly played for the Reds in the aftermath of getting "Pipp'd" by Gehrig.
So Happy Birthday to the man who serves as an eternal warning about taking a day off from work.

After you posted this, I looked at Pipp's career with the Reds. His first season with us was 1926 and it was his best. The Reds that season had their best of the 1920's and finished second to the Gashouse Gang, two games back. They were tied for first on September 16th and then lost five games in a row.
